Young love is so innocent and contagious. Every time I have an engagement shoot, I’m reminded of how beautiful love is… No matter what the time or location.
Shan and Brooke connected with me through a mutual friend that I met during another shoot, she is actually the talented make up artist (Marisa Perel) and friend of Brooke. When we met in San Francisco for the first time, I instantly knew I liked them and would be honored if they book with me. Both are genetic scientists, but I do not think that is the reason for the chemistry between them. They are sweet, cute and just plain giddy in each other’s company.
We decided on Sutro Baths and Land’s End in San Francisco for the engagement shoot. I met Shan and Brooke at their apartment, a few minutes from our actual location. In glorious sunlight we took great images of the couple and Leonard, their miniature Doberman Pinscher. Leonard was like a teenager, none of my jokes or noises could get Leonard to care! It was sort of funny! He is a great poser though and helped to break the ice. We kissed Leonard goodbye and headed to Land’s End and Sutro Baths…
Driving down to Land’s End and Sutro Baths, the weather suddenly changed. Pretty soon we were engulfed by fog and everything looked so much more mysterious and dramatic. There was a medieval sense of romance in the air and Shan and Brooke stepped right into the scene from yonder years. From smoldering looks to spontaneous bursts of laughter, the beautiful couple soon almost forgot about me and were just themselves.
I love the images on the broken walls of Sutro Baths, where the two of them look so vulnerable in their solitude, but also very content with each other’s sole presence as company.
Back, up among the majestic trees of Land’s End, Brooke sometimes looked like a princess as she floated between the giant trunks. Shan was her knight, but just without the shining armour.
All-in-all, I was blessed once more to be in the company of two people that love each other!
Shan, Brooke, thank you for granting me the privilege of capturing these intimate moments and your special love. Very much looking forward to the wedding later this year…
Here is a little slideshow – Enjoy!!
